Developing a Memorandum of Understanding to Prevent and Respond Effectively to Sexual Assaults at Colleges and Universities

The White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault released a sample memorandum of understanding (MOU) PDF to provide law enforcement and institutions of higher education with language they can use when developing a formal relationship to improve communication and coordination between campuses and local law enforcement in their efforts to address the serious issue of sexual violence in higher education.  The Task Force emphasizes that the sample MOU does not constitute legal advice and that "there is no one-size-fits-all approach in this undertaking. " State and local laws vary, and agencies and IHEs may decide to leave out or include certain provisions.

2015 Margolis Healy Campus Safety Survey Key Findings Released

October 8, 2015

Margolis Healy, with input from the National Center for Campus Public Safety, conducted an anonymous, online survey for five and a half weeks beginning in April 2015, to assess the current state of campus public safety, confirm findings from the field and information found in other recently released reports such as the Bureau of Justice Statistics' Special Report Campus Law Enforcement 2011-2012. Respondents were invited from Margolis Healy’s and the National Center's email subscribers, social media, and through partnerships with other professional associations via their membership lists and social media.
